About Us

The Uncompahgre Board of Cooperative Educational Services (UnBOCES) was established in 1994 to provide a range of educational services, with a special emphasis on Special Education, to the diverse school districts in southwest Colorado. Located in Ridgway, Colorado, UnBOCES serves five districts across the San Juan Mountains: Ouray and Ridgway in Ouray County, Telluride and Norwood in San Miguel County, and the West End District of Montrose County, which includes Naturita, Nucla, and Paradox Valley Charter School. The student populations in these districts vary, ranging from 185 to 892 students. UnBOCES is dedicated to providing comprehensive instructional, administrative, and staff support services, tailored to the needs of participating districts. Our core values are centered around a child-focused approach, professional excellence, open communication, and effective teamwork. These principles guide our work to ensure the highest quality education for students across our region.
