Laurens Institute For Education
About Us
Lauren’s Institute For Education (L.I.F.E.) was inspired by Lauren Reed, who was diagnosed as a child with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare degenerative disorder. To manage her condition, Lauren required extensive therapy and treatment to maintain her function. During this time, Lauren received in-home habilitation from Margaret Travillion, and her mother, Carrie Reed, accompanied her to numerous therapy sessions and doctor appointments across the valley. It became clear that receiving therapy at multiple locations was not only time-consuming but also fragmented—providers couldn’t communicate with one another, and there was no comprehensive, integrated plan for Lauren’s care. Margaret and Carrie envisioned a better way to support Lauren and children like her. In 2007, Margaret Travillion (CEO) and Carrie Reed (President) founded Lauren’s Institute for Education. From the outset, L.I.F.E. adopted a transdisciplinary model, allowing professionals from different disciplines to work together in one place for the benefit of the child and their family. While the journey has been challenging and the sacrifices significant, L.I.F.E. has now been serving families for 15 years and is thriving. The institute has expanded to its third location at 1305 Gilbert Rd., which not only accommodates the many services offered but also provides space for future growth and dreams.
