About Us

Established in 1978, the Center for Excellence in Disabilities (CED) is based in Morgantown, West Virginia, with a satellite office in Charleston and staff located throughout the state to better serve clients in their communities. As part of West Virginia University (WVU) Health Sciences Center, CED is closely aligned with the Schools of Pharmacy, Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, and Dentistry, providing access to a wide array of resources and expertise. As a federally designated University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), CED is part of a national network of centers that focus on enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. We serve as a key resource to the community, offering education, research, and services that address the needs of people with disabilities and their families. CED is committed to improving the lives of West Virginians with disabilities by fostering diverse and inclusive communities. We believe in advocating for an inclusive society, facilitating self-determination and independence, and promoting leadership and transparency. By supporting solution-oriented, evidence-based practices and research, we collaborate with a strong network of partners to build a more supportive environment for individuals with disabilities. Our team is passionate about diversity, inclusion, and advocacy. We value collaboration and transparency, using our collective knowledge and innovation to improve the lives of disabled West Virginians through person-centered approaches.
